A Civic Spotlight on Sustainable Transport
It’s not every day you get to show off your work to the Lord Mayor — but that’s exactly what happened at Let’s Go Electric, the region’s first electric vehicle experience event, held at Priory Park & Ride in Hull.
Hosted jointly by Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the event brought together partners, providers, and the public to explore the growing range of sustainable transport options available — from electric cars and buses to eBikes and electric trucks.
Among the many visitors was the Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull, who spent the day engaging with local exhibitors and learning first-hand how EV innovation is reshaping the way our communities move.
R-evolution was proud to be among the featured organisations, showcasing our work in expanding access to active travel, building green skills, and bringing refurbished eBikes to communities that need them most. Our team spoke with attendees about how cycling and electric mobility can create cleaner air, reduce social isolation, and offer cost-effective alternatives to car ownership.
The Lord Mayor’s visit added a valuable sense of civic support to the day — highlighting the critical role that leadership plays in championing greener, healthier transport systems.
Putting People at the Centre of the Transport Transition
The event also offered members of the public the opportunity to test drive electric vehicles, talk to industry experts, and learn about charging infrastructure — helping demystify the process of going electric.
As the UK moves toward a net zero future, events like Let’s Go Electric demonstrate how joined-up action between councils, communities, and the third sector can accelerate change. For R-evolution, it was also a chance to show that when you put tools, skills, and opportunities in people’s hands, real transformation can begin.
We’re grateful to Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and all the partners who made the day a success — and especially to the Lord Mayor for recognising the importance of building a transport system that works for everyone.
