If you’ve been following our social media lately, you’ll know that R-evolution have continued working hard throughout the pandemic, continuing to offer great service, smiles, and of course… bikes! Part of the work we have been doing has been in conjunction with Cycling UK and The Big Bike Revival for Key Workers. With their help, we spent lockdown providing free bike services to Key Workers, and ensuring that nothing prevented them continuing to do their incredible work, least of all a broken bike! In fact, the scheme was so popular, that we provided over 50 free services in just a few short months! But with so much care and passion at the heart of R-evolution, we didn’t stop there. As always, we wanted to go the extra mile, especially for those who have done the same (and then some!) for us. And who is more deserving than those who make up our wonderful NHS? NHS workers truly are our heroes, and we’re so lucky to have each and every one. Which is why, with the support of Big Bike Revival, we were able to provide 14 free bikes to NHS workers in our local area. Staff from Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill, and Diana Princess of Wales were provided with bikes, helmets and locks - keeping them safe, giving them a socially distanced way to commute, and hopefully a means to enjoy the ride along the way!

You might have noticed that R-evolution have been busy as usual throughout lockdown - offering free services and fixes to our key working heroes, all with the kind support of Cycling UK and the Big Bike Revival for Key Workers. In fact, we're the only site in our area offering such an amazing scheme.
David Finn, a 34-year-old Children’s Intensive Care and Cardiology Doctor from Cottingham, has been inspired to get out on his bike with his family during the lockdown period and has benefitted from the Big Bike Revival for Key Workers scheme. David’s 6-year-old daughter learned to ride her bike without stabilisers during the lockdown period and David was inspired to get his bike out of the garage and have it repaired so they could ride together. David received a free service from R-evolution through the Big Bike Revival for Key Workers scheme and has been out and about in the fresh air with his family. David said ‘It’s been a few years since I’ve ridden my bike. It was sat in the garage and needed some repair work to get it road worthy again. I have a demanding job and a young family so having my bike repaired at R-evolution has enabled us to do something together as a family. It has been great to spend time together doing something active in the fresh air. I heard about R-evolution through a family member. I get limited time off work and the staff at R-evolution were able to prioritise the repair of my bike to get me back on the road as quickly as possible. We will definitely continue to get out on our bikes as a family now that we are up and running’. John Marshall (CEO of R-evolution) said ‘The Big Bike Revival for Key Workers scheme has given us the opportunity to support key workers by keeping them on the road for commuting and leisure rides. We’ve found it to have additional benefit in getting key workers friends and family out on bike rides more often too’. |
